All you need to know about the British Figure Skating Championships

One of the highlights of the national skating calendar gets underway in Sheffield tomorrow. The very best figure skaters from across Great Britain will be competing to be crowned British Champion.

Here’s everything you might need to know about the 2021 British Figure Skating Championships.

Where can I watch?

Every single skate from the entire Championships is being streamed on BIS TV. The brand-new platform will not only allow you to follow every skate throughout the competition from the comfort of your own home, but also access unlimited on-demand content.

A full week pass costs just £9.99 and it takes just minutes to sign up.

The Senior competition (Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th Dec) will be broadcast on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.

If you’re watching along at home make sure you let us know by using the hashtag #BritishFigureChamps.

Who is skating?

From Basic Novice through to Senior Ice Dance, you can find the entire competitor list here.

Programmes will be on sale at the event, so those in the venue can easily see who is on the ice.

What’s the schedule?

The full schedule has been drawn and can be found by clicking here.

Opening the competition will be Advanced Novice Ladies, followed by one group of Advanced Novice Men. Day one will then see five groups of Basic Novice Ladies and one of Basic Novice Men.

Intermediate Novice Ladies skate on Wednesday. The Advanced Novice groups will then perform their free programs from around 16:30.

Thursday will see the Juniors in action. We’ll see some Pairs skating too, with Basic Novice, Advanced Novice and Junior Pairs all set to skate. They will all return on Friday to skate their free programs.

The six day Championships will be finished by two days of Senior and Ice Dance competition.

Where do I buy tickets?

There is still time to buy a ticket to experience the event live!

Tickets cost just £10 for Tuesday to Friday, with Saturday and Sunday priced at £15.

The online ticket portal has now closed but you can pick some up by emailing Kirstie Robinson on [email protected].

Are you attending as a skater, coach or spectator? Here are a few things you will need to know.

All those able to will be required to wear a mask while in the venue and temperature checks will be in place on arrival.

Skaters and coaches must present proof of a negative lateral flow or saliva rapid antigen test on arrival. You must also provide a completed Covid-19 screening questionnaire at the accreditation desk.

Whilst not mandatory, we would also ask that any spectators consider taking a lateral flow test or saliva rapid antigen test before attending.

We would ask that everyone is mindful while attending the Championships to ensure the safety of all skaters, coaches, volunteers, staff and spectators.
