Four days of competition are set to decide the GB Short Track Performance squad for the upcoming season.
The squad selected will go on to compete at the World and European Championships, as well as ISU World Cups. With the Beijing Winter Olympics just six months away, the team will also be racing to qualify Olympic quota places.
The selection event marks the start of the official Olympic selection process for individual athletes.
Taking place across the next two weeks, Nottingham Ice Centre will host the best short track skaters in Great Britain. They will be racing for one of the five available places in the men’s and women’s teams.
Day one will see all entrants complete a 7 lap time trial, 1 flying lap and a 1.5 lap standing start. The top 20 men and women will then go on to race over 1500m, 500m and 1000m on each of the remaining three days.
The final GB team will be selected after the final day of racing on 25th August and publicly announced soon after.
