Junior Grand Prix 2024 Roundup: Riga, Ostrava & Bangkok

The 2024/2025 ISU Junior Grand Prix is shaping up to be an exhilarating season for figure skating enthusiasts. This series, featuring events in various countries, has already seen an impressive start with the first three competitions completed in Latvia, Czech Republic and Thailand. We take a quick look at how our British athletes got on:

 

Riga Cup | Riga Latvia | 28-31 August 2024


Riga, Latvia kicked off the season with Neamh Davison and Daniel Borisov making their debut, finishing in 10th place with a score of 75.93. They expressed their gratitude to British Ice Skating for the international opportunity, highlighting the valuable lessons learned from their initial competitions.

 

In the Ice Dance category, Mimi Marler Davies and Joseph Black also made their debut, securing 11th place with a score of 109.55. They described the experience as an honor and were inspired by the atmosphere and the talented athletes from around the world.

 

Lucas Fitterer also began his Junior Grand Prix journey in Riga, finishing 16th with a score of 142.26.

Czech Skate | Ostrava Czech Republic | 4-7 September


The second event took place in Ostrava, Czech Republic, where Leilah Patten made her debut in the Junior Ladies category, finishing 22nd with a score of 126.39.


Zarah Wood and Alex Lapsky also debuted, finishing 14th with a score of 101.52.







 

Bangkok | Thailand | 11-14 September

Bangkok, Thailand hosted the third Junior Grand Prix of the season. with Tao MacRae securing a fantastic top-ten finish with a score of 169.11 landing him in 9th.


In the Ice Dance category, Molly Hairsine and Alessio Surenkov-Gultchev finished 9th with a score of 121.96.

The season is off to a thrilling start, and these young athletes are eager to build on their experiences and continue their journey in the upcoming events.
